Followers of Protect Wentworth Valley,
We’d like to take the time now to officially update you on the status of the Judicial Review we filed against Minister Holman on the EA approval of the Higgins Mountain Wind Project.
Our review application was heard on January 2-2024 and the decision came down on January 24th-2024 by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, they decided that our application did not demonstrate the Minister’s decision was unreasonable, and thus our application was dismissed.
We did have the option to appeal that decision, however, in council with our legal representative we decided not to pursue an appeal.
We all know and feel the disappointment in the court’s decision and do wish things had ended differently, but please know, we, as Protect Wentworth Valley, have been putting forth our best efforts to protect our beautiful area. Over the past 4 years, we have had small victories coupled with heart wrenching losses.
We still feel that our area is one of diverse ecological beauty and deserves protection from further industrialization. We will continue to provide updates and information as it becomes available on all the proposed wind projects in this area and encourage all to continue to try and communicate with our elected officials about your concerns.
As always, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Protect Wentworth Valley.
